About WiWiT

WiWiT: who is who in transport

WiWiT aims at mapping the different administrative competences in Eastern Austria (Vienna, Lower Austria and Burgenland) and Western Slovakia (Bratislava and Trnava Regions). Since the accession of Austria to the EU in 1995, followed by Slovakia in 2004, and the Schengen Treaty extended to the Eastern Europe in 1997, the number of passengers and freights going through the Austria-Slovakia borders are rapidly increasing, leading to higher needs for cross-border cooperation in the area of transport infrastructures and services. Through extensive literature review and interview-based research, WiWiT aims at revealing the different organizational and institutional structures of various administrative competences so that the future international cooperation between the two countries will be made easier in the transport sector as well as the other sector.

WiWiT is co-financed with European Regional Development Fund’s Programme for cross-border cooperation Slovakia – Austria 2007-2013. For more detailed information of the fund, please consult with the programme webpage, http://www.sk-at.eu/.
